A warm-up is not necessarily required for every story and for every purpose for which you use a story. It depends very much on how the story is embedded in its lesson. Does it merely serve you as an introduction to a topic to generate attention? Or as an amusing conclusion to a lesson? Then an active warm-up of your adult audience is less necessary. However, if you want to work actively with the learners on and with the story, then it is worth giving time to the warm-up.
