Module -Storytelling
To remember the story:
- Know your first and last lines by heart
- Prepare your story skeleton and fill it with life: Beginning, rising action, climax, falling action, end
- Visualise the story and imagine the pictures you want to transmit – consider the style of the story
- If your story is quite long, select only a part or tell it as a “running story” (like a daily soap)
- Practice as often as possible in a safe space and without pressure – in front of the mirror, record it or ask friends/colleagues, with a group of learners you already know well …
Recommendations for warming up yourself before storytelling
- Do some physical warm up: this frees up your body for movement.
- Do a voice warm up: this warms up your voice and allows the use of it's full range.
- Putting on your 'costume' or favourite storytelling hat, shoes etc can get you in the right mood.
